Embroidery sizing and detail
- If your company logo is very complex, it may not be possible to embroider this in a small amount of space. Set-ups and running charges are based on the number of stitches in a logo and our designers employ simple rules of thumb to determine the number of stitches. For a simple logo, we add 1000 stitches per square inch, and an additional 500 to 1000 for complex designs.
- For embroidery on the left or right chest, we suggest that the size of the design should not be more than 4 inches wide as this helps to avoid the design sliding into the armpit area. The height should be up to 3.5 inches. The smallest text size that can be embroidered is .03" (6mm) high, depending on the typeface that you choose.
- For full front and back embroidery designs, the design should be 10.5 inches high and 10.5 inches wide and, in some cases, it is ideal to use an applique for a larger design as it saves stitches and prevents puckering. Embroidery space is usually limited to 3" wide on sleeves, which may vary depending on whether you have banded or hemmed sleeves. Name drop can be 4" wide x 3.5" high.
Thread colours and gradient designs
- Headwear is also available to be purchased from C&J Workwear in Aylesford. To get the best appearance for caps and headwear, we suggest that the embroidery size should be 2 to 2.5 inches high and 4.5 inches wide in the front. We also recommend a maximum height of 2.25 inches for headwear. Smaller sizes are ideal for visors and available for purchase.
- We match PMS ink colours and embroidery threads, although PMS imprinting colours are ink and threads are material based. Logos or designs with gradient colour fades cannot be embroidered as all threads are a single colour - any switches from one colour to another will result in a defined change.
